Designing for Emotion Chp 7
Chapter 7 was probably my favorite in the book, because it is about taking risks. Like most things in life, especially in business, you have to take a risk to get an kind of reward. Walter says that if users are commenting that you’re doing something different from your competitors, then you’re doing something right.
Change doesn’t have to come all at once, though. You can integrate emotional design into your website or app a little bit at a time. Walter gives examples of the method of slowly integrating, having a full revamp, and then the middle ground.
I think that this chapter is also my favorite because it makes me feel like can take these concepts and apply them to my personal website. It doesn’t have to be some big corporation with some big revamp, you can apply the concepts to something as simple as your Facebook or Instagram.
I also find it interesting that he includes a section about convincing your boss, because for some reason i imagined this book being targeted at more freelance people and I didn’t even consider the issue of trying to get people on board with your ideas for emotional design. But I guess then in the long run it is helpful.
