Designing for Emotion

This week in PR Pubs we were asked to design a Facebook cover, Facebook post, Twitter cover, and Instagram post for a company of our choice. I read Chapter 1 in our textbook, Designing for Emotion for insight on the design process. One thing in chapter one that I agreed with was the fact that people remember emotional experiences more than neutral ones. When designing, I must have the target audiences’ emotions in mind to make my company or brand more memorable to them. One thing I disagree with in chapter one was the effectiveness of 37Signals. The fact that it hasn’t evolved in this ever changing environment makes me doubt its effectiveness. The book addressed this though in saying that simple and usable can only get you so far.
