Designing For Personality

This post will detail my thoughts on the third chapter of the book Designing For Emotion.

I never thought of human personality being a mystical force that either binds or tears apart human beings.  However, it’s true that this is the main attribute that makes someone like or dislike you.

Although I agree with the author that the old macbook commercials conveyed two different personality types with Justin Long as a trendy Mac and John Hodgeman as an uncool PC.  I seem to remember people disapproving of the advertisements because Long came of as a bully.  I did not like that this chapter did not cover the bad that can come along with implementing human personality types into organizations.  The author just stated that there was a risk.

However, I did really enjoy the dissection behind Mailchimp’s persona.  I realized that simple things like having the chimp use “I don’t” instead of “I do not” would make him seem more human!
