Direct Mailer 1 and 2 Final Reflection

For this assignment I was asked to create direct mailers for two different stakeholders. For mine, I chose students that just got accepted to OU and am encouraging them to join the community. My second direct mailer is geared towards their parents. I was excited to start this project, because I like coming up with design ideas for something I am passionate about. I got a little frustrated, as always, since it is a newer program for me. I also had a little ‘design block’, where I absolutely could not decide how I wanted to design my first direct mailer. I still feel like I could have done a more intricate design, but this was the best I could do. I’m more proud of my second direct mailer. I think I hit this ‘design block’ because I have never done something like this before and didn’t know where to start. I’m becoming much more confident with programs such as InDesign and Photoshop. So confident, that I feel comfortable using them outside a classroom setting and in my own free time. If I were to start over, something I would do differently is come up for a more unique design for my first direct mailer. Make it more complex, and not as simple-looking.
