Direct Mailer #2
This week’s PR publications assignment focused on the continuation of last week’s direct mailer assignment and centered on the creation of a second direct mailer for another crucial stakeholder to the University of Oklahoma.
In order to select the second stakeholder, I began to think about individuals that would have a significant influence on the stakeholder I previously defined for the first direct mailer. In doing so, I decided to focus my attention on a friend/school colleague of the stakeholder. Therefore, the attributes of this stakeholder would include the following:
- Urban Oklahoma high school student
- Qualifying ACT/SAT scores
- Creatively minded, but not necessarily interested only in design specific courses of study
- ages 17-18
Following the definition of my second stakeholder, I drafted a second direct mailer that built upon the design principles outlined in my first direct mailer, which can be seen below.
Since the stakeholder for the second direct mailer is defined as a friend/colleague of the first stakeholder, I thought it would be appropriate for the second direct mailer to resemble the design of the first and become part of a series of direct mailers aimed at prospective students. Since I defined the second stakeholder as someone not necessarily interested in a design discipline, I utilized imagery of students in a more relaxed, yet creative environment. I felt that the slogan “be the best you” was still appropriate for fellow friends and colleagues of the first stakeholder and that the call to action on the mailer would encourage students to take a campus tour together, thereby increasing the chance that both stakeholders might attend the university together. Overall, I was happy with the drafts I have created thus far. Going forward, I would like to create additional mailers that complement the series.
