Direct Mailer Design Reflection

For the past two weeks of our class, public relations publications, we were asked to design two direct mailers that related to each other. My first direct mailer was meant to be sent to high school students that had the required SAT/ACT scores to apply to OU and also had one of their parents attend the university. My second direct mailer related to the first one because the second direct mailer was sent to alum of OU who had children with required SAT/ACT scores to apply to the University

Though my design for the two direct mailers has not changes much, the one thing that has changed is my ability to complete the direct mailer. When creating the first direct mailer, I found it very difficult to navigate photoshop, I even had to go back and review some videos about photoshop to refresh my memory on how to successfully use Photoshop. However, when creating my second direct mailer I found it a lot easier to navigate Photoshop and finished the second direct mailer a lot faster than the first. Practicing with Photoshop during the creation of the first direct mailer definitely helped me with my ability to create the second.

One difference I found between Photoshop and InDesign was the fact that Photoshop operating using layers while InDesign does not. Though I was able to correctly navigate both, I found InDesign to be easier to navigate and use than Photoshop. One similarity between the two programs is that a lot of the tools are the same. This made it a little easier to transition from using InDesign to using Photoshop though it was still difficult.

Here are the drafts to my 2 direct mailers:
