Direct Mailer Final Reflection
We were asked to create two different publications that could possibly be sent in the mail from OU Recruitment Services. We were to select two different stakeholders that OU Recruitment Services would tailor a specific message to and create two different publications; one for our first stakeholder and one for our second.
I chose prospective OU students (high school juniors/seniors) who have alumni parents as my first stakeholder, and I chose alumni who have children who are prospective OU students (high school juniors/seniors). I immediately thought of tradition and family when I selected my two stakeholders, so that is what I played off of when I was creating both of my direct mailers.
Using PhotoShop, I was a little nervous about creating these two publications because I had finally gotten pretty confident with InDesign. It took a little playing around to warm back up to PhotoShop, but after a while I could see why we were using this program instead of InDesign for this particular project. I liked how I was able to layer pictures and text and make it look seamless. My only struggle sometimes was making sure the text could be read.
If I were to do my project over, I would want to figure out a way for the back of both of my direct mailers to not be so plain, but I didn’t want to distract from the main point very much. I am pretty pleased with my final outcome for both of these designs and I really enjoyed making them.
