Direct Mailer Reflection

This week in PR Pubs we were asked to expand upon our previous drafts for our direct mailer design and create our second direct mailer for Design Project #2. I cannot believe it is already half way through the semester and we are already finishing up Project #2. Time has flown by this semester!

My first stakeholder was In-State High School seniors who are 17-18 years of age, with high ACT/SAT test scores, and with a household income of $60,000. My second stakeholder was recent OU Gaylord graduates, with a GPA above 3.50. My first stakeholder led to my second stakeholder because it made me think of my potential future with Gaylord College, and the possibility of applying for the Gaylord Graduate program.

My design has changed because I became more detail-oriented. I wanted to get more creative with my typography and layout. The eagerness and enthusiasm that I have for excelling in Photoshop is what influenced these changes in my designs. My design remained fairly similar from draft to draft, but I changed little details along the way to keep it creative.

Photoshop and InDesign have similar characteristics, but overall they are two very different design programs. I have learned the tricks and basics in both programs, but I definitely am still learning. It’s definitely a work in progress, and I continue to watch YouTube videos and tutorials to keep learning more about the differences in both of these programs. Overall, this project was exciting and I learned all about stakeholders and Photoshop design.
