Direct Mailer Reflection Blog Post
Here is the final draft for my direct mailer project:
Direct mailer one:
Direct Mailer 2:
What were you asked to do?
For this design project we were asked to make two front and back direct mailers. These direct mailers were from OU Admissions and Recruitment and we had to pick out who are target audience would be. For each direct mailer we had a different target audience so we had two total.
- How did you respond to what you were asked to do?
I will admit at first I was not quite sure about what to do or how to go about making this design project. I still feel like I do not know that much about Photoshop so I was nervous about how it would turn out. However, once I got more information about the project and a clear idea of the design I wanted to create and who I was designing it for this helped the project go a lot smoother.
- How did react to what you actually did?
I feel proud of what I have created. I feel better about working with Photoshop, although I still feel like I have a lot to learn about it. I would say for my first direct mailer, it turned out better than I had initially thought it would when we began this project.
- Now go one level deeper: Why do you think your reaction was what it was?
I spent a lot of time on this project. At first my rough drafts were very rough and I think that was because I felt so new at Photoshop. I kept at it though and I would ask the advice of other people around me for help on how my design was looking and I thought that made a difference in my work. I also looked at other students in the class and their work and this helped me to get a better idea of what some where looking like and the direction I needed to take my rough draft.
Supplemental questions:
- Do you or do you not feel yourself becoming more confident with the tools you are being asked to used?
I feel myself becoming more confident in the tools we are being asked to use. I am a big believer in the more you practice or do something the more you can learn and the better you can become at it.
- Is there anything you would do differently if you were to start over?
I think if I was to start over I would take more time to look at other direct mailers from other colleges to see what the competitors might be like. I would also just take time to look at tutorials for Photoshop and learn more about the tools.
