Direct Mailer Reflections
Well we are at the end of week 2 or 3 for our direct mailers and I finally have solid drafts of my two DMs. It’s been quite the process creating these but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.
My first stakeholder wass Dallas, TX high school seniors who meet the OU admission requirements and whose family could likely afford OU based on household income. From this primary stakeholder, I selected my secondary stakeholder to be someone who had influence on the first stakeholders decision making process- this led me to pick their parents as my second stakeholder.
Since my last drafts of these two direct mailers I have mostly been playing with fonts, font sizes, spacing, and fine tuning the wording on both the front and back sides. There aren’t a lot of huge differences, but I think the changes I made make a big difference overall in the design. I played with the fonts quite a bit because when I finished my first draft something was still off with my DMs… even just changing fonts from bold to regular or vice-verse made a big difference.
Photo shop is wayyyyy more frustrating to work with. I found myself needing mental breaks between my times on Photoshop because when I was on it I would get so frustrated with forgetting to switch between layers and accidentally moving the wrong thing, deleting the wrong thing, or creating a new layer when I definitely didn’t want a new layer. That is one thing that I like way more about In Design, all the elements are easily accessible all at one time. What I did like about Photoshop though was that it let me do a lot more editing with the pictures. Photoshop was also way cleaner to look at than In Design because In Design has all those guider lines on the documents. I can see how both programs are very useful and both have benefits over the other. I think more work in both will prevent me from getting as frustrated in the future.
