Don’t look back at you past (blog post), if you don’t want to laugh at yourself

I have grown an incredible amount more than I ever would have thought I would  during this class this semester. I was assigned to go through all my previous blog post and describe my story through the past 14 weeks and how I felt about the time that has past.

This semester allowed me to grow into a better public relations student through the different assignments I was given and the large span of projects the class had to do that allowed everyone to learn how gain many new skills that are used in the PR world. Looking at the most recent posts and then working backwards was so funny to me because I could see the little amount of confidence I had coming into PR Pubs and I could see that I was really only taking this class because I had to graduate. By reading my reflections, I could see how quickly I could finish my assignments now whereas I would need another week or even two for the first two or three projects of the semester. The first few days were a lot to handle and I wasn’t sure how well I would do, I knew I would enjoy the class but I wasn’t sure if my finished projects would be good enough to show to future employers.

Looking back now, I can see that my second draft of the direct mailer project was my turning point in my confidence and quality of work. I am so proud of my sorority direct mailer, Nike social media ads and newsletter. I never thought that I would be able to make anything like the ones I did. I truly think that my business card and letterhead had a good idea behind them but could have been far better if I had the chance to make them now.

Overall, my knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and my overall favorite CANVA is not extensive but I know I am confident enough to be able to use them efficiently and I could always figure it out if I came across a problem. I so happy that I do not feel the way I did when I started this class and have begun my journey to becoming a great PR professional! I can’t wait to continue learning this area of PR and growing into the jack of all trades that is needed to be in this profession.
