Edit Assignment 1 Reflection

This week’s task centered on the final refinements and adjustments made to the business card and letterhead design assignment. In order to provide a more functional layout for the letterhead, I revised my original draft so that the body text of the letter was read as one column instead of being read in the original three columns. The latter design with multiple divisions in the body text emulated the look of a magazine more than a letterhead.

Following feedback from my peers on my business card design, I felt confident in my original design and did not make any major alterations to the original draft.

Upon reflection of the entire design process, I feel satisfied with the end product and found that the experience as a whole provided a substantial source of creative liberty and fulfillment. I feel that utilizing the analysis-synthesis bridge model to compose my thoughts for the assignment gave me greater clarity, focus, and inspiration for my design. Furthermore, I feel that my knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign has expanded, allowing for greater experimentation in my communications design process.

Additionally, I would like to present my work one day to the edit. staff and see how they respond to the design. As an admirer of their business and design principles, I have really enjoyed developing a communications design strategy for their brand and it would be excellent source of validation to hear positive feedback from their team.
