“edit.” Competitor Analysis

For this portion of the business card assignment, I was asked to conduct a competitor analysis for edit. in order to see how its visual strategy compares to other home design stores.

As a local boutique in Tulsa, I felt that part of the marketing strategy of edit. should be to emphasize its unique goods that are specific to its store alone. Therefore, as I conducted my analysis, I did not include any national brands among the list of competitors and focused more on home design boutiques across the country.

One of the brands I found to be quite inspirational among the compilation of competitors was the home and accessories store Garde in Los Angeles. The store layout and visual merchandising appeared to align nicely with edit.’s minimalist and refined design values.

Additionally, I found that the Los Angeles based business Haus Interior boutique represented many aspects of expansion for edit. The store, which has bicoastal locations in New York and Los Angeles, offers both a storefront with a collection of modern goods as well as interior design services.

Upon review of the competitor analysis, I feel that edit. should continue to embody the idea of maximum sophistication through minimalist design in its visual communications strategy. In terms of expansion, edit. should represent those values through an online retail space as well as through in-house interior design services in order to provide a comprehensive experience for the edit. customer.
