Extra Credit-Chapter 5
After reading chapter 5 of Designing for Emotion, I wish I had read this chapter sooner, it really resonated with me.
The author spoke about overcoming the obstacles of skepticism and trust and laziness and who and how they overcame obstacles. I was very intrigued by the stories of Mint and Dropbox and how the groups had to use design and their incentives to draw customers in.
I agree with all of what the author said but I do believe he left out a special point about trusting yourself and the ‘gut feeling’ they talk about. How yes, it is important to reflect on others’ work when dealing with obstacles and yes it is important to gain your customers trust, but it is equally important to gain your own trust and your peers trust.
