Final Direct Mailer Reflection

By: Garrett Voss

For Design Project #2 in PR publications we were asked imagine ourselves working for the recruitment services here at OU then to identify to separate stakeholders to target. My first stakeholder was incoming freshman from Oklahoma and Texas who averaged a 24 or higher on the ACT and had a GPA over 3.0 or above. My second stakeholder would be the students parents, because lets face it parents have an almost as big (IF NOT BIGGER) stake in where their kids go to college. With my stakeholders targeted I was then asked to design two “direct mailers”; one to the students and one to the parents.

I responded pretty well to this assignment. I had some trouble at first but I am a fast learner and eventually got the hang of photoshop well enough to where I could really implement a lot of the creative designs I had envisioned.

For the first drafts of the mailers, I spent a lot more time on my first direct mailer than my second one, so my reaction was very positive about #1 and a little self conscious about #2. However, as I continued to work on both mailers throughout the week I got them both looking exactly how I wanted them to be!

Like i have said before, I hold myself to a high standard so when my work isn’t where I think it should be Im not going to react and push myself until I have made what i had envisioned all along.
