Final Direct Mailer
This week in my PR Publications class we completed the finishing touches and critiques on our direct mailers. As I have mentioned in previous posts, my target audience for my direct mailers are high school students who are starting to apply to universities. I wanted to target those students who have a desire to be involved and could picture themselves at the University of Oklahoma.
In the previous lesson, I turned in two drafts of my design and my teacher has now responded to my designs with things that I should fix. After listening to my critiques I was ready to design the backs of my mailers. I wanted to do a similar yet simple design that could be used for both of my mailers. I wanted it to be simple because the front of both have large graphics and I did not want the design to become too busy.
Attached are my final designs. Overall, I enjoyed this project because it was more challenging. This project was harder for me because at first I did not know what all a direct mailer should entail so it required a little research and more in-depth planning. I definitely feel more comfortable with the tools now that I have completed several drafts of my design.
In closing, there isn’t much I would change about my design, although there can always be more exciting and different fonts that would be fun to use in future mailers. Although photoshop is very useful, I think I may feel more comfortable in In-Design. Both are very similar but minor difference such as the direct selection tool and the section tool make it challenging to go back and forth between programs.
