Final Reflection
Not the final reflection post!! This semester can’t already be over, I just started! For our final project we were asked to create a summary of learning on any medium we wanted. I decided to chose an infographic, mainly because I have worked with creating them before. I briefly thought about creating a video but I know that isn’t my strong suit, so I stuck with what I know. I created the infographic on a website called Piktochart, it offers free templates and purchased templates to create an infographic. Infographic are all about the visual and key points of information so I tried to stick with things that I thought were really important. Even though it looks rather simplistic it took a long time to create. Getting everything just right takes time, especially when you are a perfectionist, or think you are. I designed this infographic with the purpose that a perspective student might look at it and it will help them to better understand the course and help them to pick it as a course to take.
The first thing I included was a chart that shows the three programs we used the most, InDesign, Photoshop and Canva. The graph shows that InDesign was used the most, followed by Photoshop and then Canva. Next to that I put 5 tips for Designing I thought were important. Creativity is the most important tip to me, it is essential to think outside the box. One thing I learned fast in PR pubs is to make sure the brainstorm first and have a clear cut idea of what you want before you start designing or you are going to run into some problems. Font and proximity are vital, depending on what you chose it could change you whole design. Don’t procrastinate! This is super important, designing takes a lot of thought and time and waiting till the last minute will never work, especially if you want your design to look good. I then added a photo of a picture in Photoshop just so whoever is viewing the chart can see what working in Photoshop looks like.
The second portion of the infographic features an instagram post I created for the social media design project. Beneath it included the number of class projects we completed and what those specifics project were. I thought this was important information because if I were a prospective student I would want to know the class projects we are expected to design. Next to that I included a photo of my website. I included the number of blog post we completed and the different types (reflection, chapter summaries, ect). I found this to be important because the blog is a big part of this class. Each week we are required to post something on our page.
Below that I included a graph of the hours a week I spend on PR pubs. I think this is really important that perspective students know that this class is time consuming but not too much where you don’t have time for anything else. Next to that I put a quote that I found that really resonated with me about designing. I think it reflects what we have learned this whole course.

If I were to be completely honest, at the beginning of this course I wasn’t very excited but I hate blogging or so I thought. It turns out I really don’t mind it that much. It actually nice to sit and reflect over the work I have completed, how I have grown and writing it down helps me process all of it. I know I have said this is several posts before but I really liked everything about this course. I feel like it pushed me in several different ways. It pushed me to think more creatively, it pushed me to be more decisive and it pushed me to like more analytically. This course is very hands on without being overwhelming. In the beginning with design boot camp I got really nervous especially with everything being online, but the tutorial videos really take you step by step on how to navigate each program. Even though I was technically on my own, I never really felt that I was on my own. I think that I have learned more with this course being online instead of in person because I had to rely on my skills all the time.
I am super thankful for this course not just because it made me grow as a student but it really has helped me with my future career. It is a huge advantage knowing how to work a program in Adobe cloud let alone two programs. I had always intended to learn how to work Photoshop and InDesign, but lets be real it probably would have never happened so i’m really glad this class has brought me the opportunity. I’m kind of sad that I won’t have more designing projects, I looked forward to working on assignments for this class each week. Farewell PR Pubs! Thanks for a great semester and a great time! Until we meet again!!
