Finally DONE with the letterhead & business card!

Thorn Originals Business Card

Thorn Originals Letterhead

For the past almost three weeks we were asked to create a business card and letterhead for a company/brand of our choosing. We were to start off with research, then move on to create a draft or two, and finally create a final copy of both for print.

I was excited to get this project started in the beginning. Then as it went along, it was pretty stressful to keep adding elements that matched the messaging I wanted to put across. I was surprised by how many drafts it took me to get to the final version that made me happy. I found it hard to make the design choices on my own in some instances. For example, there were times when I created two things and couldn’t decide which one I liked more. I ended up asking my peers and my teacher but I got differing opinions and ultimately it was totally up to me.

I think I wished for some more guidance in the creation process because in all of my classes so far we have been following a format or outline for writings and projects, and now with publications we are so free to do whatever we want and think is best. Each week/class period I made small tweaks to my projects and each time they seemed to make a huge difference for the overall look.

Now that I have completed the final versions, I do think I will take these to the client to see if they would have a need for them. I also think I will continue to use Thorn Originals as my client for the next project which is a direct mailer.

I feel quite a bit more confident now in my skills with InDesign and Photoshop. I still couldn’t create expert publications but I feel myself hesitating a lot less when I’m in the programs now. If I could start this project over later on when my skills have developed more I would like to create my own floral graphic instead of finding one online.
