Finding Peace in the Chaos

Finding Peace in the Chaos Finding Peace in the Chaos

For this assignment, I was asked to describe my favorite spot on campus and the impact it has had on my life.  As I began my thought process and pondered the place that has given me the greatest fulfillment, I began to think of my college experience as a whole.

College can be an extremely stressful experience at times, and it is crucial that successful students find a way to alleviate some of the pressures.  Within the college context, this can be done in a myriad of rather debaucherous ways; however, I have found that alleviating these stresses via healthier outlets provides exponential benefits as opposed to temporary relief.

Aside from putting myself at risk of sounding like a giant toolbox, I ironically find that one of the most calming places on campus is the Huston Huffman fitness center. Some say that the best investment you can make for yourself is exercise, because no one can take that away from you. I couldn’t agree more.

Since I began exercising regularly toward the beginning of my college career, fitness has significantly improved my academic efficiency as well as my performance in nearly all areas of life.

The Huffman gives me a space to rid my mind of looming deadlines or upcoming class projects and focus solely on the exercise or movement at hand.  Often after leaving the gym, I feel my mind has been reset and recharged.

In addition to a space of self-fulfillment, the Huffman is typically filled with a number of my friends, peers, and classmates who inspire me to improve by seeing physical representations of their success.

Ultimately, fitness is one of the few areas of life that one can embrace and consistently receive positive feedback.  I find this type of positive feedback loop repeatedly provides an impetus for success in academics, career, and numerous other areas.

Lastly, I would like to know what space gives you the most fulfillment? How do you find inner peace?  Please comment below.

And now, before I get writer’s block, I need to go to the Huffman.

Until next time,

S
