Great Reading Room, South Oval, The Bookmark and OU Observ
From the Great Reading Room to South Oval or the The Bookmark located in the basement of the Biz Library and the OU Observatory are a few of my favorite spots on campus to do homework or relieve anxiety before attempting to to do my homework.
The Great Reading room is one of my favorite spots because it reminds me of a scene out of the Harry Potter movies, but not only because of that but its quiet uncanniness helps me think more creatively and vastly. Plus, for some reason I enjoy the smell of dusty old books.
My other favorite spot to go to is South Oval. On a beautiful day when the sun is shining with a slight breeze I love having a picnic on South Oval, and do homework. I grab my old picnic basket fill it up with some of my favorite healthy snacks and pack up my favorite blanket with a couple of plush pillows and sit out basking in the rays. It reminds of when I use to live in Paris and how I would have picnics on the Seine River or at Parc Buttes Chaumont- some of the most happiest moments in my life.
The Bookmark is my favorite place because I like the hustle and bustle of the other students trying to complete assignments, test experiments, study for finals and dodge tornadoes all at once and by doing so they indulge themselves with caffeine to compel them to stay awake for hours on end.
Lastly, the OU Observatory is by far my favorite place to be. I love attending the star parties on Wednesday nights to view the visible constellations of the season through the telescopes. It is a bummer some times when the clouds don’t break or there’s just too much light pollution from the football stadium, but it’s still cool to just go up there and observe. I’ve always been a space junky and wanted to pursue astronomy and archeology as a career, but astronomy requires math and math is glaringly outside my range of abilities so I just decided to stick with it as hobby and go stargazing around the world and go on a couple of excavations during my lifetime.
