“How Do You Zoom?”
This past week we dove into InDesign and Photoshop. Since this class started, I have been talking about how excited I am to get started and learn these skills…little did I know how BAD I would be.
I believe my first question, on the first day of bootcamp, in front of the entire class was, “How do you zoom?” Zoom. I couldn’t find the zoom option. After learning that, I experienced a series of highs and lows. I cannot imagine the frustration Mr. Croom feels as I have to call him over every step to fix the next mistake I have made.
In class we worked on two different assignments in each application. The typesetting assignment was my favorite and I believe I really started getting the hang of it, by the end of the assignment. Photoshop is much harder. Much, much, much harder. We worked on editing photos, changing their backgrounds and placing parts of photos onto different photos. Some may call it “layering”, (it’s called “layering”). Photoshop was a little frustrating because I could not remember the steps I was taking to edit each photo and I kept making simple mistakes. The end product was beautiful though. I took a photo of my project! I felt like a proud mother.
So, all this being said, I will not give up. I will watch those Lynda videos 100 times if I must, I will master InDesign and Photoshop. Or at least, I will be able to make a resume by the time this semester ends, of that I am confident.
