Just Keep Swimming

Phew!! We have made it through the first project!! This whole process has been a very interesting adventure.

Starting out, I was terrified that I would not be successful in this course because if I am being totally honest, Bootcamp Week scared me and seemed incredibly overwhelming. However, when I began to actually apply what I learned during Bootcamp Week, I discovered that I was capable to use indesign and photoshop successfully. For our first project, we were asked to design a Business Card and for the second we were asked to design a Letterhead. Overall, I was very pleased with the way my first draft of my Business Card and Letterhead turned out! I thought they looked clean and conveyed a strong message. However, after getting feedback from my different peers within my learning circle, I was able to change a few details to make both projects look even better! Overall I am very pleased with the final outcome.

I also very much enjoyed the opportunity we had to give positive feedback to our peers, as well as receive it. My fellow classmates had ideas to improve my project that I never would have even thought of, which I truly appreciated. I also enjoyed this aspect of the project because with this course being online, if often feels as though I am in a way “on my own” to get assignments completed. However, this opportunity made the class seem like it had more community and it was very interesting and exciting to see what my fellow classmates have created over this whole process.

I would actually consider pitching these projects to the organization. I think my Business Card and Letterhead could help bring attention and awareness to my company. I think it would be beneficial for the company because listed on both projects is the owner’s contact information and this helps to make her more accessible to the public. Because the owner and founder of this company is a college student at OU, I think the Business Card could be extremely beneficial because she could hand them out around campus to other college students.

For future students, I would recommend that they not allow themselves to become overwhelmed with Bootcamp Week. When you finally get into working with Indesign and Photoshop, it is easy to discover that both programs are fairly user friendly and manageable. I learned through this process that using them is actually fun and enjoyable! It is also a great feeling when you complete a project and are happy with the way it turned out because it is really awesome to see your creations and ideas come to life!
