Letterhead Reflection
Like the business card I have already made, as part of our PR publication course we were also asked to make a letterhead for the organization we chose.
We were asked to think about the organization and the feelings the brand resonates with it’s consumers. We also had to keep in mind the previous work we had already done and think about how to make these two items work to unify the vision we have for the company.
I believe I did a good job at making my business card and letterhead similar, but also stand out on there own. As is the case with many projects in this course, I needed to jump right in and start tinkering with InDeign tools to see what I could come up with for my letterhead design. After awhile I began to visualize what I wanted to happen, keeping in mind the design elements we had already learned. I wanted to draw the persons eye from left to right using Mario, and also have the nostalgia of the ordinal controller. Likewise, I wanted to chose a font that would be professional, authoritative and clean.
I still am working on the controller design. I need to make the diagonal pad and buttons. Also I am unsure if I want to keep the controller cord, or possibly eliminate it and still have Mario running from left to right. Let me know what you think would be best for the design. I would love the advice.
Overall, I am pleased with what I created but I know there is room for improvement. I need to keep working on the controller design and also clean up the page. I think making the cord more clear, having Mario actually on the line or eliminating it all together might help with my idea. Also I do not know if I should add a light-blue backdrop and clouds to fully flush out the “level” that the letterhead could be or if keeping the white is perfectly fine. I will be working on what works best and being able to just try things out is the best about InDesign.
I think I am reacting the way I am because I do have such a clear vision of what I want in my head. A controller, check, Mario from left-to-righ getting bigger, check, correct font, check. I think what I am having concerns with is the cleanliness of the actual design. I need to make it more precise because that is what I expect from Nintendo and that is what their audience expects. Nintendo are perfectionist and I expect nothing less from the material they release to the public and stakeholders.
