Life after PR Pubs
Throughout this class I have been able gain further experience in design through trial and error from each project. This is a way that I learn best, so I believe that I have taken a lot away from this course. Out of all the projects, my favorite one was the business card. This way our first project, and one that I take the most pride in. Looking back on this semester, I wish I would have completed a few more drafts on my direct mailer because I feel that after a few more revisions, I could have really made it a great design.
I believe that have graphic design skills is essential to public relations practitioners and is a skill set that sets someone apart. I am grateful for this class because I am now more confident in designing mediums that I know I will encounter in my future.
I think I have decided to do my summary of learning project in Canva by making an infographic using the information we learned this semester. I am choosing to do a infographic because it is a creative and fun way to bring all the information together in a way that is easy to read and remember. I still want to experiment with imovie and peanut gallery more before I make my final decision. In my infographic I want to go back through every lesson and take the key things I have taken away from each lesson. I want to my infographic to be a sort of guide to design and a guide for all the programs we have used.
This week we also read chapter 4 in Designing for Emotion which discusses emotion in web design. The chapter talked about the element of surprise. I do not know how I feel about this for web design because surprise reminds me of pop ups which most people do not like. It was very interesting to read that Wufoo writes handwritten notes to their customers. This is an old fashion gesture that many people still appreciate because it shows you really care about their service.
