Making It Real–Brainstorming New Visual Strategy

Okay, so for this post, I’m taking everything that I learned from my research and brainstorming a new visual strategy for the Houston Texans.

What kind of visual language will you use?

I’d like to keep it simple, clean, and uncluttered. The Texans have a very recognizable logo, so I think it’s important to make that a highlight and not detract from that with unnecessary visuals. Keep the typeface simple and legible to stick with the clean feeling.

Will the visuals be type or image driven?

Once again, the visuals should be image driven. People immediately recognize the Texans logo and can identify the organization at a glance. Type should be minimal and only give the necessary information.

What do the type and images need to mean?

I’d like for the type and images to work together for a very Texas feel–the team is called the Texans after all.

What connotations do they need to have?

I want to create a feeling of unity between the Texans and the Houston community–really dissolve the boundary between the celeb-status football players and other community members.
