Meet Me at Conoco 3
For the past two years, the third floor of the Conoco Phillips wing of the Union has been more than a meeting place to me. Conoco 3 is home. It is a place where friendships are made and community service is the common goal that brings a diverse group of students together. This team becomes a family.
I began my time with The Big Event as an operations staff member. This role primarily dealt with jobsite evaluations and outreach. I attended weekly meetings during this time, not knowing that Conoco 3 would eventually become my weekly study spot, my hangout and at times, my refuge.
I had the opportunity to serve on the executive team for the 2015 Big Event. As a member of the jobsite relations team, I had weekly office hours and began spending even more time in this space, bonding with some of my favorite people. Late nights turned into productive service projects. Simple tasks continued to prove rewarding by the impact made in the lives of others. Big Event is love and Conoco 3 is the address.
The lessons I learned in this place hardly compares to the things I have learned in class. Conoco 3 taught me leadership, gave me direction and showed me where I belong.
