More Research

This post is a continued research space for my competitor analysis for my PR pubs class. I had to create a Pinterest Board that held a competitor analysis for the ASPCA.

When looking up competitors to the Animal Protection and Rescue League the biggest name that stood out and that was the most relevant was the American society for the prevention of Animal Cruelty or ASPCA.  The APRL differs from this organization first and for most because it is not a type of law enforcement.  The APRL relies more on the public opinion and persuasion side, then the government.  That being said, most of the cases picked up by the APRL are usually recognized by politics because of its persuasion among the public.

The ASPCA also does a lot of advertising and sad commercials to try to persuade the public to donate, where as the APRL does little to advertise itself.  They want to rely more on the public changing their habits to force the animal abusers (especially big businesses such as Fashion and big produce) to take their voice seriously.

The message the APRL is trying to send needs to be different than the ASPCA because it needs to get the point across that everyday people who are ignoring the problem are the problem as well.  There is no innocence if a person buys an alligator purse or a real fur coat, because that makes the consumer just as responsible as the producer.  The APRL does accept donations, but this grass roots, non-profit organization is more concerned about how many people hear their message and react, rather than the ignorance of simply donating.
