My Favorite Place on Campus

Many people feel that Dale Hall is crusty and outdated. Students often forgo classes in Dale Hall for classes in nicer, newer buildings like Gould or Gaylord when possible. Dale Hall is pretty old. It isn’t much to look at from the outside. The bathrooms inside are less than ideal. Technology in classrooms there doesn’t begin to compare to the technology that exists other places around campus. I had a class in a room that was basically a glorified storage closet in the basement of Dale Hall, but Dale Hall is my favorite place on campus.

There are many great spots on OU’s Norman campus. The campus as a whole is welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. When asked to choose my favorite spot, I initially thought of the prettiest spot I could imagine. Campus houses many beautiful facilities and areas of landscaping, but Dale Hall is not necessarily one of them.

However, Dale Hall is the building where I had my first two classes on my first day of college. I made the short walk from my dorm to the conveniently located Dale Hall. I arrived about 20 minutes early, even though I could’ve sworn I woke up too late to give myself the proper amount of time to get ready, do my morning routine and make it to class.

Though I didn’t really care for my first class or my first professor that day, I did like the classroom I was in. It was spacious and vast. It had two sets of double doors for students to pour in to or out of. Most importantly, it was easy to find. Even though the tile and walls looked like they had seen better days, the overall effect Dale Hall had on me was a positive one. I felt like I had made it as I sat in my dreadful 9:30 history class that first morning.
