My Own Little Study Spot
When it comes to the University of Oklahoma, there are so many different spots that you may choose as your “favorite,” or just a place that you enjoy to study at. Maybe The Bizzell Memorial Library or the Union is your favorite spot to study, along with many other OU students. For me though, I enjoy finding spots on campus to study that are secluded and don’t have a large number of people overcrowding the area. My favorite place to study is at the duck pond on the OU campus.
Of course, the duck pond is not somewhere I can go to study at throughout the year. It is only an option when the weather is nice. When Norman hits the high 60’s and 70’s, you will definitely find me studying at the duck pond. I know what you’re thinking…”Who would want to study with a bunch of loud ducks and geese running around?” To be honest, the birds don’t bother me. What I enjoy most about studying at the duck pond is the calmness. There are never more than five people around and it’s not a spot right near the center of campus, making it a place where not much traffic passes through.
I came across the duck pond as a good study spot last year when my friends and I used to go feed the ducks when it was warm outside. I noticed that we were usually the only people there, and thought it could be a good place to enjoy the beautiful day while doing some not so beautiful studying. There are a few tables around the duck pond that I rotate throughout whenever I go study, or there’s even a small bridge that I can sit by. I enjoy the scenery of the duck pond and the quaintness of the area. You can be the only person at the calm and quiet duck pond, and then walk a few hundred feet to the South Oval and be surrounded by hundreds of other students.
While I still have a few months until I can study regularly at the duck pond based on this crazy Oklahoma weather, it’s something that I have to look forward to. Let’s be honest, nobody looks forward to studying, but if you can find the perfect place to study, the whole studying part may not end up being as bad as you may think.
