Newsletter Dummy Reflection

This week for my PR Publications course, we were asked to create a dummy layout for a newsletter. We were told to pick a Fortune 500 company that we were interested in. It took me a little bit to do some research and see exactly what company I want to create a newsletter for, however I found that Southwest Airlines would be great for this project. I have a lot of experience flying with Southwest and thought that since I have some connection with the company, I would be more interested in my design.

We were asked to use InDesign (YAY), I love InDesign and feel like I have learned a lot about the program! Because this lesson is just a dummy, I didn’t place exact pictures and figure out the exact news stories that I’m going to use. Instead, I just focused on my placement and how I’m going to organize a 3 page newsletter.

Here is a screenshot of my dummy newsletter

They might be a little hard to see, but I was very pleased with the outcome!

I’m so happy we were asked to create a dummy before starting the actual newsletter. This has helped me gage where to place my articles etc. Obviously I am going to jazz it up a lot when it comes down to the actual design! This was a great help and will make my design process go a lot more smoothly.
