Newsletter Reflection
- What were you asked to do?
For this project we were asked to create a newsletter for a fortune 500 company. We were asked to create this newsletter using InDesign. The company I choose was Target.
- How did you respond to what you were asked to do?
I was excited to work with InDesign again because I like using this program. I choose Target because I really like this company and I thought that I would like reading the articles that we would put in the newsletter. I made a dummy layout to begin with and then I found the articles I wanted to put in the newsletter and the pictures too.
- How did react to what you actually did?
I think I handled this assignment well. I like using InDesign so I thought it was easy to make my dummy layout and be able to know what I wanted to do with this project. I was able to find the articles that I thought worked well for my design project and images to go along with the. I had just learned how to write photo captions in my public relations writing class so I was excited to take that newly acquired skill and put it to use in another class.
- Now go one level deeper: Why do you think your reaction was what it was?
During this semester I have learned that I tend to favor working with InDesign more than Photoshop. I think I understand the tools better and because of that I was excited about this project and I worked on this project for a long time in order to make it look as good as it could. I also thought that this newsletter was an important project to do because this is something that would be a good skill to have in the workplace because many companies need newsletters. I really thought it pertained to my major and that made working on this project easier.
How did your target public affect your overall content and design strategy?
I made this project for more of a consumer standpoint so I picked articles that I thought my friends or me would be interested in and want to read about. The other option was the stakeholder approach and more of the financial side but I thought the consumer side was better for this project and what I wanted to create.
