Newsletter Rough Draft & Reflection
This week my public relations publications class was assigned to make a newsletter for a Fortune 500 company. I chose Ford! It proved to be an interesting task. I’ve never made a newsletter before, but I’ve definitely read plenty. I have always thought that the best ones have been engaging and have something in them that isn’t just news to make them more fun to read.
My newsletter will be an internal newsletter sent to the company and its employees. I wanted to make it more than just stories, so I’m including a calendar at the bottom and also may choose to include a crossword in my second draft after I play around with it a bit more. I am also including a few pictures of old logos for the ‘Ford through the years’ section to break up the news so that people will be more likely to be engaged and read it.
The rest of the newsletter is simple. I wanted to do this to keep the reader engaged, as stated before. Sometimes it’s easy, especially when something is related to work, to skim newsletters or things some may not find important amidst the busy days at the office. I want this presentation to be easy to read, basic and engaging so that the employees get something out of it.
Here’s my first draft!
I chose to make the spaces black where images will be.
