Newspaper Markup

I liked going through the front page of the newspaper and marking the different contents of typesetting. Maybe it’s because I like to check things off of a list and be efficient, but I thought it was an easy way to learn about the components of a newspaper.

I had some trouble discerning between subhead and deck sometimes, so that was probably the hardest part. In my front page copy of The Norman Transcript, I didn’t have any examples of a pull quote but I know what a pull quote is.

The video was helpful in discovering which part goes where; it wasn’t too hard to mark up the newspaper after the video because the video was so clear. I’m not a huge newspaper reader, but I think it will be useful to know these terms as we move forward in PR Publications.
