LEARNING THE ELEMENTS
We called this week “bootcamp” in my public relations publications class. One of the things from our bootcamp consisted in exploring the elements of InDesign. I was not completely new to InDesign, but I am by no means an expert.
To help the class understand the layout of publications such as newsletters, magazines and newspapers, we were given the task of labeling the common parts of this publications. I took a copy of the daily OU newspaper and labeled the different parts.
As you can see, this elements make it easier for the reader to know highlights of the stories and keep everything organized. It is appealing to the eye as well. We often forget how important organization is, our eyes and mind are already used to this organization. For example, without knowing I know what newspaper I am reading, and what are the headlines (important daily news).
