Overall Reflection for My First Design Project/ Final Drafts

  1. What were you asked to do?

This week I was asked to complete a final draft of my business card and letterhead for my respected company, Thrive Market, in addition to giving and receiving feedback from peers, which I found very helpful.

At first it was pretty difficult coming up with a design for both my business card and letterhead given my limited skills on Photoshop and InDesign, but once I started browsing images I started to get more creative. The quick selection and lasso tools soon became my best friends.

My rough draft of my business card was okay, but I went back and added a few changes for the final draft. I made the background white and added different foods. I also changed the typography of the slogan to the same as the letterhead.

  1. How did you respond to what you were asked to do?

I was a little overwhelmed, but like I mentioned before I started to really enjoy the designing process. In my free and leisure time I found myself working on it. It may not be perfect, but I did my best and I am content with my work.

  • Any long-term goals for this design? Do you have any interest in actually pitching this to the organization?

With a few touch ups and redesign a little here and there I might actually pitch my design to the organization.

  • Do you or do you not feel yourself becoming more confident with the tools you are being asked to used?

I feel myself a tad more confidant working with the tools. I started to find “loopholes” for certain things- which is great.

  • Is there anything you would do differently if you were to start over?

Yes, there would be but I just don’t know what. I pretty much started from scratch a few times.

  • Do you have any recommendations for future students doing this project?

My future recommendations for future students would be just to pace yourself, and try to give yourself enough time to work on your project. Get creative even if you cannot execute out properly the design you want to convey. At least jot down your initial designs and get help with what you’re trying to do.
