PR PUBLICATIONS: Process Reflection

This week we are nearing the end of our first design project. We are not creating anything new this week just making adjustments and change to both our letterhead and business card. We have been working on the two for the past two weeks. When the assignment was first presented I was nervous about delving into Adobe InDesign but I was also excited to be able to use my creativity and exert my design. The first draft of my business card was okay, I knew the elements that I liked but they were too much to go together. The next week I was able to weed out more of the excess and refine the look even more with my letterhead.

My reaction was realistic; I am not naïve enough to think that my first draft of work will be the final product. I know that critiques and feedback are for the best to ensure that what I am designing is clear and understandable.

This design would be best on a personal level. I do not think the entire Hard Rock brand would be on board with this design. However, I think that if I worked for the company it would be a good design for myself personally if that kind of variation was allowed within the company.

I do feel as though I am becoming more comfortable and well acquainted with InDesign and these projects have helped in the way of getting to know the programs.

For future students embarking on this project, I would say it is important to think about the culture of your company as well as what they stand for. At the same time think about yourself personally and let the creativity shine. Everyone loves a creative business card.
