PR Pubs becoming a “thing of the past”
Can you believe the course is over?! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was struggling with the idea of taking the class literally in the class setting, or online. I’m so happy that I decided to take the class in person. Adam, you were so incredibly helpful and really aided in my learning of these design programs. For my summary learning project, I’ve played around with a few things. But for the final assignment, I couldn’t do anything out of the ordinary, right? I feel like this entire semester I have fought myself through creative ideas. Newsletters, Canva, info graphics and other designs didn’t fully capture how I’ve grown throughout the semester. Prior to this course, I couldn’t even find a way to submit a blog that I was comfortable posting to a public setting. Which, to add to this, I really enjoyed putting my blogs online. This allowed for more thought into posts because you know that people are able to view this in the future. You have to put your best foot forward and can’t simply rant about nothingness until you get your grade. Anyways, back to my technology problems, it started off very rough. Alignment, spacing, text, repetition, contrast, blah blah blah… That was all jumble to me at the beginning of the course. You could tell from my first business cards. They were rough to say the least. There were pictures everywhere, they were completed solely on one side, and it is still awful to look at. With the help of you, Adam, and Youtube videos, my knowledge grew and I was able to crop on these programs, make things transparent and slowly but surely turn them into things I was proud of. My Disney Newsletter is by far my favorite creation, I’m the most proud of this work. I was excited going into it, and was finally comfortable working with inDesign. The colors were fun and the pictures were lively, and it was awesome to know you could download fonts onto a computer to use in programs and works. The Disney font really added to the whole feel of the newsletter. This course didn’t kill me like I thought it would, I’m glad I challenged myself and saw an improvement. I feel like this could easily be compared to someone dieting. At the beginning, it sucks and you don’t want to do it. You’d rather find a way to cheat and find the easiest way out. If you challenge yourself to push through, it gets easier. The healthy food becomes more appealing, and the workouts are easier. Before you know it, you’re 4 months down the line and you’ve lost so much weight and you’re in a new lifestyle. I feel like this has been my transformation through Pubs. Maybe a slight exaggeration, but you get the point. My storyboard shows this. It shows that I am proud of what I have done, and can go on and on about the importance of this course. The GoogleDoc was imprtant for me to create because it felt like I was telling you how helpful you were in my eyes. It was a fake dialogue that felt oddly real– weird, I know. Your feedback was a huge part of my growth this semester, your kind words really pushed me to be better just to get more kind words in the future. Maybe that’s egotistical and self-centered, but I loved it. Here is the link to my Summary of Learning bellow.
