PR PUBS: Chapter 4 Response
This week we also read Chapter four of Designing for Emotion and one thing that I found that I agreed with was on the topic of Facebook and Twitter. The book talks about how in 2010 Twitter made updates to their application allowing people to experience a new design. Facebook soon followed suit but to their surprise it was more of an inconvenience. Facebook is not as quick and easy to use as twitter. The changes on their site/application are more complex and require users to take the time to learn and get use to them.
Something in this week’s chapter that I disagreed with was the end of the chapter. They talked about not being able to have a strategy or be sure that you are connecting with people through your emotional design. I would say yes you can’t be 100 percent sure but that is a lot of what PR professionals and advertisers do. They have to be able to gage what the public would feel about something in order to adequately come up with a design or strategy. I would say a good strategy to getting it right would be empathy.
