PR PUBS: Chapter 6 Forgiveness Reflection

Chapter 6 dealt with how to handle hiccups when they occur and the best way to stay on your audience’s good side. I found that I agreed with the notion that its best to have your users on your side. The book explains that if users feel your site/ product’s costs outweigh the benefits you are in trouble. I agree because people do not have to use your brand/product. The best way to ensure loyalty is to ensure hospitality.

The book introduces the instance when the Flickr site was unexpectedly down in 2006. The company diverted attention away from the problem and onto a fun activity. While the actions were commendable and exceptionally creative, some companies may not be at a liberty to give away free merchandise or prizes. While I am not sure how you would get people excited about something without a prize I think that might be a helpful example for any time options become limited.
