PR Pubs: Designing for Emotion ch. 1

In this chapter I definitely agreed with Walter when he said that designing must have a human element, it cannot be something mechanized. Humans understand emotion and feeling, so in order to create that “mood” in a design, it must be individualized and nurtured by just that, a human. Design taps into the part of the brain that recalls memories and events in life that bring up specific emotion. For example, when I see a design that is themed beachy, I think about visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Los Angeles, which makes me think about baseball, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy and happy. There is a chain reaction of feeling that come with a design, and the best designs out there are the ones that can truly transport the viewer to another place in time.

I did not read anything in this chapter that I disagreed with, and actually truly enjoyed reading it!
