PR PUBS: Designing for Emotion – Chapter 1
This week we began reading Designing for Emotion by, Aarron Walter and in the first chapter I found that there were some ideas that I agreed and disagreed with.
During this chapter I came to realize that I agreed with Abraham Maslov’s hierarchy of needs example. It just seems plausible to me in my life and I feel as though most people would fall under that as well in some range.
The area in which I disagree is simultaneously in that same section. The book said that it is possible to be content with just the bottom three layers of the pyramid: physiological, safety, love/belonging. I don’t agree I think that esteem and self actualization, or pleasure are also necessary to me that seems like the area of your life that is pure fun and relaxation. It is in a sense the care free area. Although many people crave love and belonging that takes work and efforts even though it may bring you pleasure. The same principle applies for Physiological and safety needs.
