PR Pubs: Designing for Emotions ch. 7

This week in PR Pubs we were asked to read a chapter of our choosing, and the title of chapter 7 just really caught me- Risk & Reward. I live my life by this motto. I don’t believe anything is worth achieving if you didn’t risk something for it, even if it’s something small. I believe that this class, being as creative and freeform as it was, was full of risks. Every assignment was a risk that someone wouldn’t like your design, or you didn’t quite understand the concept. That is why I loved this class so much.

In the chapter, the major theme of taking risks with design to get the reward is discussed. I definitely agree that companies and organizations should be taking risks with their designs and becoming more innovative in the way they communicate with their targets, because the more we use the same techniques and designs, the less attention we will get. Even if the design is met with negative reception, that is a learning experience and ultimately, more publicity.

I do not agree with the chapter when it says to get critique and revisions before your actual ideas are laid out on the table. This does not make sense to me as I think you should have your full ideas out to be critiqued- why not?
