PR Pubs: Reflection

This week, I was asked to learn two whole new languages; Photoshop and InDesign. I was also asked to analyze the design of a newspaper and not just the words of the newspaper, which was refreshing and amazingly, fun!

At first I responded with hesitation to the assignment to learn something as complex as Photoshop and InDesign. Though I have always wanted to learn and know that it will look killer on a resume, after reading that the assignment would take hours to complete, I was dismayed and not looking forward to it. Sleep does not come often for me at this point in school and every second is precious.

I really enjoyed learning these programs. The time flew by and now, I feel really good about the skills that I have learned. I’m very excited to start playing around with the program and using this information to create some really cool designs.

I think my reaction to the assignment BEFORE doing it was hesitation and anxiety because my workload is so heavy right now and I am constantly stressed out about school, my internship, and time management. My reaction to the assignment AFTER completing it was positive because I believe I needed that creative outlet in a world of never ending research and linear thinking. It was nice to take a break from my normal type of homework to do something relaxing and fun.
