PR WRITING: Blogging Case Study

The blog I chose for this assignment was The Paris Review. This blog is interesting in that it is not a personal blog therefore there are many authors who upload pieces throughout the day. Therefore, there are numerous submissions on the same day covering various topics. The blog’s purpose is to review literature for people. The website showcases a print magazine as well as blog entries. The blog entries are more casual in ton and the topics sometimes veer from book reviews. The length of the articles varies but they tend to vary in the same margin of length. While the blog side of the organization is more formal in nature, the level of formality depends on the author and topic.

This blog to me seems very commercial. It is a business. It is more like working for a newspaper that also has a blog. Some of the blog topics vary off the topic of literature and that is confusing in my opinion.  The blog does cover a wide array of topics which I think is can be a strength. All in all, I think the blog has the right idea, but possibly narrowing the focus a little more might be beneficial.
