Press Releases and Report Back
What are the key pieces of advice you found for improving one’s press releases? Key pieces of advice I found for improving press releases is to always make sure it look presentable. The press release done by Emily Lenzer was well organized and appealing to the eye. The information about the event would be easy to find if anyone was interested in attended. The paragraphs weren’t too clustered together and each paragraph did a good job at representing one idea.
Did you learn anything that surprised you from these articles? The thing I learned that surprised me from the article by Jane Lavere is that California is the new hipster paradise. That article was a really fun read and it showed me how you can express your personality through your writing. The second thing that surprised me was in Susan Blanchard’s news release every University she would write about when be in bold lettering.. Kind of made me wonder why that is..
How will you apply what you learned to your own writing? I will apply what I learned to my own writing by making sure I create content that is crisp is clear. I believe a news release needs to look presentable as a whole or your reader will either end up confused or not even giving your news release the time of their day. Also, every new name that got mentioned in an article stated their position. I find this important because in my previous writings usually I would just drop names without mention there title or position.
