Professional Portrait
Welcome to my site dedicated to showcasing my online portfolio of my work at the University of Oklahoma! My name is Kayleigh Adam, I’m a 21 year old senior studying public relations with a minor in general business. I’m obsessed with all things New York and hope to work in the fashion industry in NYC upon graduating in May. Originally from Houston, Texas, I chose the University of Oklahoma based on family influence after both my mom and dad attended OU, and my entire family being spread out across Oklahoma.
I believe in fun. I believe in family. I believe in laughing. I believe in carpe diem’ing. I believe in having a strong work ethic. I believe in staying up late and sleeping in. I believe in there being so many greater things ahead of us than we can even imagine. I believe in being stubborn. I believe in expressing yourself. I believe in being passionate about something. I believe in being opinionated. I believe in not apologizing for who you are, ever. I believe in calling your mom once a day. I believe in celebrating everything. I believe in being happy.

I’m passionate about the fashion industry, specifically in New York City. I’m currently a remote intern for ASOS where I create online content based on student style for their website and social media. I’m a personal style and beauty blogger at Kayleigh’s Kloset, where I post five times a week different outfit inspirations and products I love. I started my blog as a resume booster for when I applied for internships in NYC, and throughout the last two and a half years I’ve fallen in love with it, and the blogging community. I’ve gained so many opportunities from it like attending New York Fashion Week, getting a leg up on internship applications and working with brands like H&M, Kendra Scott, ASOS, ChicWish and more. I think blogging is a great way to showcase things your passionate about and serves as a creative outlet.
My family guides me. Their support is indescribable. My mom shaped my love of fashion because she majored in fashion merchandising at OU before the program was canceled. My dad is totally type a, but he never ceases to amaze me by taking my blog pictures and always letting his friends know just how many followers his daughter has. These two are my rocks and I don’t know where I would be without their never ending love, support for this crazy pipe dream of mine to work in the fashion industry in NYC and encouragement to do what I love.
The idea of achieving my goal someday and working full time in NYC is what motivates me. Interning in the city during the last two summers has been amazing, but tons and tons of work. Interning remotely from school can be stressful, especially since Oklahoma’s fashion scene is so minimal. I’ve had plenty of moments where I think life would be so much easier if I chose to attend school in Dallas or New York, but then I remember how much I love OU and have created a way for me to do exactly what I want to do from the greatest university ever. My phone background is a picture of 5th Avenue where a taxi photobombed, and every time I get frustrated I just take a second to look at it and it always gets my head straight.
Design is something I’ll always be using in my life. Right now I use photoshop to create photo collages for my blog and mood boards for different trends. I used InDesign during an internship at Marc Fisher Footwear to create weekly press clips for the 10 brands. I used photoshop at Cosmopolitan and Seventeen Magazine to compile market research for the accessories editor for upcoming stories. Design is such an important skill to almost every industry and is something that should always be required in my opinion. I’m looking forward to learning more and hope that at the end of this course I’ll be able to use design even more in my life.
