Professional Portrait

First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room.
I am not your typical college student. I am not 18 and fresh out of high school. Matter of fact, I’m 10 years older than that and you can say I’ve already lived and I’ve learned.
Oh and by the way, hello, I’m Christy Montenegro. I’m a Public Relations major with a minor in Enterprise Studies.
My life since high school has been a bit of a roller coaster. I was on and off from college when I finally told myself, “You know what, I’m going to travel by the world by the age of 30,” and that’s exactly what I did.
My traveling adventures began in 2011 when I was hired by American Airlines. It was a bright, sunny, stressful day when my wings were pinned and I was officially a flight attendant. Let me just tell you, it was not easy at all. However, I have always been an extremely driven person and won’t give up until I achieve whatever has been engraved on my mind.
Two years and a half literally flew by. My vacation destinations ranged from the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean to the beautiful beaches of Thailand, I will forever have a special place in my heart for that beautiful country. Europe was definitely always fun and of coarse, the many visits to Vegas and Miami.
I was high on life and loving every minute of it, until the silly idea of going back to college was back on my mind.
So what did I do? I quit my travels, moved back home to Oklahoma, and came back to school.
Crazy huh? I know.
Life has actually been great though and I’ve been blessed with a pretty sweet job. I am the Account Manager for Metro Contractors, which is a remodel/design construction company in Norman. My boss is awesome and he’s extremely supportive of my college education. I only work part time but I pretty much help my boss run his company. Some of my hats include accounts payable/receivable, office manager, executive assistant, HR, and so on. You name it, I do it!
If I’m not at work or school, you can find me in the gym. Yes, I’m guilty of being a gym rat, don’t judge me. Never have I been so motivated to live a healthy life as I am now. I am a green smoothie junky and recently became obsessed with juicing, it was bound to happen.
My goal for 2016 is to not only feel physically healthy but also feel at my best spiritually and emotionally.
I believe in God and He is my guide. However, I’ve always been a bit of a control freak so you can imagine how that can be a problem. Through ups and downs, I am slowly learning to put Him first in all things that I do. I have this vision of where I see myself in the next 5 to 10 years and I know that the only way I can get there is with God’s help. That vision is what keeps me focused and moving forward.
Before I go any further, I’d like to apologize in advance for the extreme cheesiness you are about to read.
I recently became an auntie for the very first time and I am over the moon in love with my baby nephew. I had never experienced such love and it totally turned my world upside down. The little guy did something to me that is hard to explain but he came into my life at just the perfect time. He makes me want to be the best auntie ever and accomplish more goals so in return, I can do more for him. Aaaah my heart just melts every time I see him!
I’m actually supposed to be in bed already so I can wake up before the crack of dawn and go to the gym. It’s the only way I’ll have time to see my nephew tomorrow but here I am, being the ultimate procrastinator.
Last but not least, I’d like to admit that I actually enjoy writing. Ugh, just reading that makes me nauseous but it’s so true. I started this blog for my Intro to Mass Comm class last semester and found a new love for blogging. Really wish I would of started on this a little earlier so I could of gotten more creative with pictures and GIF’s but unfortunately I did not. At least I met the picture requirement with my fabulous selfie.
Anyways….
I hope my almost 800 word vomit answered all the necessary questions, I’m off to count sheep.
Until next time!
XOXO
Christy
