PUBLIC RELATIONS PUBLICATIONS: Chapter 2 Reflection
The second chapter of Designing for Emotion focuses on the fact that we must design for humans and that it is not always possible to appeal to everyone. One thing I found that I agree with from this chapter is the idea that a design does not have to be a person in order for others to relate. We can relate and enjoy abstract design as well.
One idea I found that I did not agree with was the idea that apple products are cutting edge in their design. While I do agree that their design is crisp, clean, and usable; it is not in my opinion the most aesthetically pleasing. There are far more products whose design draws more of the wow factor. Competitors such as Samsung seem to often use more color and features to draw in their audiences. While apple in my opinion could sell a phone whose screen only worked in black and white and make it cool, there are other brands that do bring good design to the table as well.
