1. The first day of class Croom said to say your experience with picture editing (an example he used was Instagram). I of course said Instagram was my main tool for picture editing. Croom was being sarcastic….

2. The first week I was feeling confident. All we had to do was walk around campus and point out different design concepts.

6. I often times got confused between the options Photoshop offered vs. InDesign. I knew the icons but not the meaning behind each one.

7. The business card was one of my favorite assignments in PR Publications. I was able to use a modern design and fit it to an organization I am passionate about. I was proud of my work!

8. We then began the direct mailer assignment. I had to design for a particular audience which was Texas highschool seniors. How can I relate to this demographic? What makes them want to come to OU?

9.  Surprisingly enough, not all high school seniors perform musical numbers while in school..weird right? I soon moved onto a new site and new audience. Canva is a website that creates various publications and social media content. Canva was actually an easy platform to navigate finally!

10. Overall, this course gave me a new set of skills I will use in the future. Design is not some ambiguous concept but instead something I can do!

Hope you enjoyed my semester in review featuring GIFS!

On a more serious note, this semester in PR Publications has taught me the value behind design concepts alongside how to use different platforms to design publications. This course was by far the best class I have taken through Gaylord. The relevant and practical assignments and lessons are valuable to my future. This course allowed me to forget about the “perfectionist” in me and instead unlock my creative side. Some of the things I have learned this semester will truly stick with me after graduation.

Thank you Croom for a great semester filled with assignments that challenged me and in turn allowed me to grow into a better, more well-rounded public relations professional. WAHOO! That’s A Wrap Pubs!
