Reflection

What a week it has been. I finally overcame my fear of the monsters I call Photoshop and Indesign. However, photoshop was slightly more difficult for me than Indesign. I have come to realize that photoshop (hence the name) is used more strictly for editing photos, and Indesign is for more textual based assignments. I don’t seem to have the patience to edit photos, so I think that may be why it’s a little more time consuming for me.

As stated in my previous posts, I have two stakeholders for my direct mailer:

1. Females High School Students (16-18) from Magnet Schools on the West Coast

2. The College Guidance Counselors from the Magnet Schools on the West Coast

The first thing that came to mind when I was thinking of a second stakeholder was a College Guidance Counselor. Slightly more than my parents, my college counselor was influential on where I applied to college. For most high school students, counselors can be incredibly helpful and play a vital in the decision making process.

It’s nothing too fancy, but I know I will have more time to work on the DO the front and edit the back of it this weekend! I found this mailer to be slightly more challenging for some reason. That may be attributed to the fact that I have to appeal to a slightly older crowd or that the counselors carry so much weight in the decisions of their students. Not much has changed in this draft because I have focused more heavily on the Student Mailer.  As my final draft is due on the 27th, I have a little more time to perfect this one and think about what design to create on the front.

Reflection Reflection

Above is my Student Mailer. Obviously, it is in need of some more tweaking, but I am pretty proud of this for being my first EVER photoshop assignment. The first draft….I won’t even show you the first draft.  It was awful. After I sat down for an hour to an hour and a half and started playing around with photoshop, the idea of creating a direct mailer became much less stressful. I would even venture to say it became fun. I found this mailer to be slightly easier because I am trying to appeal to (a.) my gender (b.) close to my age range.

Overall, I am extremely proud of what I’ve done in photoshop this week, but I definitely have my work cut out for me this weekend!
